What Can PRP Be Used For?

When it comes to the most powerful and effective skincare treatments, very few things come close to PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy.

PRP is a concentration of platelets derived from a patient’s own blood. Here’s how it works: PRP is injected into the damaged areas of the skin, and the growth factors present in the platelets soon get to work renewing the skin cells.

The tissue regeneration process results in smoother, tighter skin, and fewer wrinkles. The effects start to appear about two weeks after treatment and typically last for a year or more.

Let’s take a closer look at what PRP therapy can be used for!

3 Things PRP Can Be Used to Treat

1. It can treat dark circles underneath the eyes.

If you have dark circles that don’t seem to go away even with a good night’s sleep, then PRP treatments can help. Platelets can help encourage cellular turnover as well as break down the melanin that causes dark undereye circles, meaning you’ll look more refreshed and rejuvenated after a series of PRP treatments.

2. PRP treatments […]

What is the Difference Between a Neck Lift and a Facelift?

There are plenty of cosmetic procedures out there that can help transform your appearance, especially if you feel self-conscious about neck or face wrinkles.

But with so much choice out there, it can be difficult to determine the differences between the two. So when it comes down to a neck lift and a facelift – two incredibly popular anti-aging treatments – what’s the difference between the two? View More Patient Results

All About the Neck Lift

The neck lift is a surgical procedure that addresses signs of aging along the neck, especially:

  • Sagging neck skin
  • Wrinkles and folds
  • Jowls/turkey neck

During the neck lift procedure, your plastic surgeon will make small incisions directly underneath the chin or behind the ears. These incisions allow your surgeon to access and readjust sagging muscles.

Once these muscles are in their new position, your surgeon will trim away excess skin. The end result is a smoother, firmer, and more lifted neck appearance.

Can You Get Botox and Dermal Fillers at the Same Time?

Botox and dermal fillers are both excellent tools in any anti-aging kit – but do you have to use them separately? Or can Botox and dermal fillers be used at the same time?

Let’s take a look now! View More Patient Results

*Individual Results May Vary

Getting Botox and Dermal Fillers at the Same Time

Yes, you can get Botox and dermal fillers at the same time. That’s because Botox – which contains a neuroprotein – and dermal fillers – which use hyaluronic acid – contain different primary ingredients.

That means they can be used at the same time, just not in the same facial area.

Typically, Botox is injected in the forehead region, between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), and the crow’s feet. Dermal fillers are commonly used to minimize the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds in areas like:

  • The cheeks
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Temples
  • Marionette lines
  • Under Eye areas
  • And even the back of the hands

Our Botox Options

At Awaken Aesthetics, we offer Botox injections to smooth away forehead wrinkles and lines, as well as crow’s feet.

We also provide Xeomin and Dysport injections, which are both FDA-approved for […]

Is a Blepharoplasty Part of a Facelift?

If you’re interested in getting a facelift, then it’s safe to say you want to get the best results possible.

After all, you want your facial appearance to match how you feel inside – and you feel as youthful as you did in your twenties!

But while researching a facelift, you may have noticed conflicting information about whether or not an eyelid lift (also known as a blepharoplasty) is included.

For that reason, let’s explore one of the most common questions we get during our facelift consultations: “Is blepharoplasty part of a facelift?” View More Patient Results

Is an Eyelid Lift Part of a Facelift?

The answer is, it depends on the results you want from your surgical procedure.

Here’s the scoop: a blepharoplasty procedure is commonly added to a facelift to help produce maximum results, but it doesn’t have to be part of a facelift. That’s because a facelift can be localized to target facial areas where aging is most obvious, like around the jawline or lower cheeks. In this example, an […]

How Often Should You Get Botox®?

Want to try out Botox® for yourself, but not sure how often you’ll need to schedule appointments?

Take a look at our answer to this popular question: “How often should you get Botox®?”

*Individual Results May Vary

Recommended Botox® Schedule

The right Botox® schedule really comes down to the individual. For example, if your results last longer because you’ve had Botox® before, you may not need to follow the same maintenance schedule as another Botox® user.

With that in mind, we usually remind Botox® clients that their results will last three to four months; therefore, they should expect to schedule up to four Botox® appointments each year to maintain their results.

If you’ve had Botox® done in the past, your results may last longer, as Botox® can have a cumulative effect. For that reason, regular users may only need to schedule two Botox® appointments each year.

What is Ultherapy®?

Are you starting to notice sagging skin, especially around your jawline and neck? Are you frustrated by the appearance of facial folds and wrinkles?

If so, it may be time to discover Ultherapy® treatments. Read on to learn all about Ultherapy®, including how to tell if Ultherapy® is a good choice for you.

What is Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® is an FDA-approved device that uses ultrasound energy to deliver skin-tightening benefits on areas like the face, neck, and chest. Ultherapy® is non-invasive, meaning you can enjoy tighter skin without surgical incisions, general anesthesia, or downtime.

Here’s how it works: Ultherapy® emits ultrasonic waves, which penetrate upper dermal layers to get to the subdermal tissue. The ultrasound energy heats the tissue, which triggers immediate contractions. These contractions create a firming and tightening appearance, helping to create an improvement with:

  • Facial wrinkles and folds
  • Skin sagging
  • Sluggish collagen production
  • And more

Regular Ultherapy® treatments can even increase collagen and elastin production, leading to […]

Is Botox Safe?

Let’s face it: You’re ready to get rid of those annoying forehead lines and wrinkles. You’ve tried plenty of serums and moisturizers, but nothing seems to fade the appearance of frown lines that have started cropping up in recent years.

If you’re like most people trying to tackle signs of forehead aging, you may be a good candidate for Botox injections. But maybe the thought of getting injections – especially so close to your eyes – makes you feel a little cautious.

That’s why we’re about to do a little digging around this common question: Is Botox actually safe? View More Patient Results

Is Botox Safe?

Rest easy, because Botox is considered to be extremely safe. In fact, it’s so safe that the FDA has approved Botox for multiple uses, including treating fine lines, crow’s feet, and even minimizing symptoms of migraines and hyperhidrosis (talk about multi-tasking!).

In order to get FDA approval, Botox had to go through multiple clinical trials demonstrating its efficacy and safety at treating aging symptoms. From 1983 until 2003, Botox was only shown to […]

What’s the Best Procedure for Hair Restoration?

Are you starting to notice a receding hairline? Do you want to stop your hair from thinning out?

If you find yourself answering “yes” to the above questions, then you might be a good candidate for the best procedure for hair restoration: PRP treatments for hair loss!

What is PRP Therapy for Hair Loss?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy for hair loss uses your body’s own platelets to stimulate follicular growth in areas where hair loss is beginning to occur. Your body’s platelets get a boost by being combined with a special growth-activating serum, which is then added to a microneedling device. PRP Hair Restoration follows this simple two-step process:

  1. Blood is withdrawn from the arm and platelets are separated via centrifuge, and
  2. Platelets are added to the serum and injected into the scalp via the microneedling device.

The end goal is to stimulate enough follicular regrowth that the patient sees hair grow back in areas where hair loss was most obvious.
