No one can escape the effects of aging on our skin. As time passes, our skin loses its elasticity and begins to sag. Sagging skin on the face can make us look tired, angry, or even sad. Droopy eyelids can even get in the way of our vision. Brow lift surgery effectively corrects droopy areas on the forehead, giving you a more well-rested, rejuvenated look.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift or forehead lift is a surgical cosmetic procedure that raises the eyebrows to improve the appearance of the forehead, brows, and upper eyelid area. Brow lift surgery can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the upper face.

How Does a Brow Lift Work?

There are multiple ways of performing a brow lift: endoscopic, hairline, and coronal browlift. During the procedure, your plastic surgeon will either give you local anesthesia or general anesthesia, depending on how invasive your brow lift procedure is. General anesthesia may be a better option for patients who feel anxious about the procedure, as it will make them feel more comfortable. Next, your surgeon will make incisions. The areas where your surgeon will make incisions depend on which surgical approach they choose.

How Different Types of Brow Lifts Are Performed

During an endoscopic brow lift, your surgeon will make multiple tiny incisions behind your hairline. Next, they will insert a thin tube (endoscope) containing a small camera on its end into one of your incisions to look at your facial muscles and tissues. Next, they will use special instruments through the incisions to lift and adjust your skin into the appropriate position to correct the droopy, saggy, and wrinkled skin across your forehead and surrounding eyebrow areas.

During a hairline browlift, your doctor will make an incision between the start of your hairline and the top of your forehead. Next, they will remove some of the skin and tissue from the top of your forehead.

During a coronal brow lift, your doctor will make incisions across the top of your head from ear to ear, will lift your forehead, and adjust it into its new position.

Finally, your doctor will close your incisions with skin adhesives, special clips, or sutures.

Brow lifts are often combined with other facial procedures such as eyelid or facelift surgery to help lift the other areas of your face, giving you a better overall complexion.

The procedure can last one or two hours.
