Is Dysport® Different From Botox®?
Botox® gained fame as the first treatment to use botulinum toxin for anti-aging purposes. However, it now has several relatives with different properties. While they both use the same active ingredient, Dysport® differs in several ways.
- Dysport® lasts longer, with four to seven months, compared to three to four for Botox®.
- Dysport® results will appear a week or more before Botox® results.
- Dysport® and Botox® are both measured in units, but a unit of one is not equivalent to a unit of the other.
Both treatments are used in the same areas, including crow’s feet, vertical lines between the eyebrows, or horizontal forehead lines. The choice will depend on your expert injector’s assessment of your needs and goals.

Is There Any Downtime With Dysport®?
Dysport® injections only take a few minutes, and you will only experience a few small pinches. While some people choose numbing cream, most are quite comfortable without it. You can leave your appointment and return to your daily routine immediately, but avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours. You might notice bruising or swelling in the area for a few days.
Am I a Good Candidate for Dysport®?
Most healthy adults can receive Dysport® or its relatives. Dysport® may be recommended for you if you have realistic expectations, want to address fine lines and wrinkles, and are seeking an alternative to Botox®. You might not be a candidate if you are pregnant or have certain medical conditions.
