Average Length of a Facelift Recovery
At Awaken Aesthetics (located in Torrance, CA), our facelift patients can expect to take about one to two weeks off from work. This is when patients experience the majority of facial swelling and bruising, so you can expect the same from your own facelift recovery.
Patients are also required to wear facial coverings for this period of time, as it helps reduce post-surgical swelling.
Usually, by week three, patients can gently cover up any residual bruising with makeup and start to return back to their normal lifestyle.
What to Expect from Your Facelift Recovery
For the first two weeks, you should expect to spend most of your time in recovery wearing facial garments to reduce swelling. You’ll likely be uncomfortable during the first few days after surgery, so we recommend having a place where you can sleep and relax for that period of time.
You may also be asked to sleep in a slightly raised position (either in a recliner or with multiple pillows underneath your head) to help with facial swelling.
You’ll start to feel more like your normal self around the two-to-three week mark, when you can remove your facial garments. Most of your bruising should be gone at this point, although you may see some residual swelling for about three months after your facelift surgery
