Regardless of your age, there are many reasons you might want to add a boost of volume to your features. While some people think of dermal fillers as an anti-wrinkle treatment, they can do much more. Whether you want to restore shape and definition to your cheeks, plump your thin lips, or fill in hollow-looking areas, your Awaken Aesthetics team offers a range of dermal filler options to help you achieve it.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers come in many formulas, but they all serve a similar purpose: they are injected into the skin to add volume and definition. Some fillers provide immediate results, while others add volume by stimulating new collagen formation. Some of the most common uses for dermal fillers include:

  • Lines and wrinkles, including marionette lines and nasolabial folds
  • Lips and fine lines around the mouth
  • Cheeks
  • Chin and jawline

What is the Best Dermal Filler?

There is no one “best” dermal filler since all have different uses. We offer a range of filler types, so our expert injectors always have choices when selecting the best products for your needs.

Juvederm®

This large family might be the most recognizable dermal filler brand name. Juvederm® fillers use hyaluronic acid, a compound found throughout your body, especially in connective tissues such as your skin. There is a Juvederm® filler for almost any imaginable use.

Restylane®

Another large, versatile family of fillers, Restylane®, also uses hyaluronic acid in different configurations to treat many different concerns. Your injector will choose one based on their experience and eye for aesthetically pleasing results.

Sculptra®

While hyaluronic acid fillers are the most widely used, Sculptra® (poly-L-lactic acid) has several benefits. This dermal filler, which can be used for lines, wrinkles, and hollowness, triggers your skin to produce more collagen that boosts volume over time. As a result, its results outlast those of hyaluronic acid fillers.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

How long dermal fillers last depends on the type of filler and the area being treated. Fillers used for active, flexible areas like the lips are the most viscous, allowing these areas to move naturally. They typically last up to a year. Hyaluronic acid fillers in other areas usually last one to two years. Because Sculptra® generates new collagen, its results can last at least two years.

Is There Any Downtime After Dermal Fillers?

Dermal filler injections can take as little as 15 minutes, and you can return to your daily routine immediately, making it easy to fit fillers into your busy schedule. While there is no downtime, you may notice minor bruising or swelling in the area that may last a few days. While you will see results from Restylane® or Juvederm® immediately, your Sculptra® results will develop over several months.

Had a great experience with Michelle Crosby at Awaken Aesthetics! It was my first time having micro-needling done and she was very informative about everything she was doing as well as aftercare! Definitely recommend!
