What is CoolPeel®?

CoolPeel® is a unique form of laser resurfacing that is sometimes referred to as a cool laser or cold laser. CoolPeel® uses laser energy to trigger a healing process that tightens, smooths, and clarifies your skin with much less downtime than older laser treatments.
How Does CoolPeel® Work?
CoolPeel® is a fractional ablative laser, which means that it resurfaces your skin’s outer layers using tiny areas of controlled damage. The laser energy also works on the very surface of the skin to trigger collagen production. However, most CO2 lasers generate a significant amount of heat in the skin that causes more skin trauma and prolongs your recovery time.
CoolPeel® gets its name by using far less heat than similar lasers. This allows it to provide great results while protecting your skin and minimizing your downtime. We recommend this laser treatment for skin concerns, including:

Who is a Good Candidate for CoolPeel® Laser Resurfacing?

Good candidates should have reasonable expectations and be in good overall health. In the hands of your skilled Awaken Aesthetics provider, this laser is safe for almost any skin tone.
Candidates should arrive for treatment with healthy skin. If they have an infection or active skin condition, they may need to delay their session. You may not be a good candidate if you are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or are using certain medications and topical products.
Only a consultation can determine whether CoolPeel® is right for you. While this treatment is an ideal laser resurfacing option for many people, others may benefit from deeper laser treatments like the Deka Pulse or Fusion, or non-laser treatments like microneedling, chemical peels, radiofrequency, and ultrasound. What to Expect During a CoolPeel® Laser Treatment
Your CoolPeel® experience depends on the intensity of your treatment. In most cases, you will have numbing cream applied to your skin before treatment to ensure your comfort. Since this treatment generates much less heat than a standard CO2 laser, you may feel warmth or tingling during treatment, but most people find it very tolerable.
The average CoolPeel® session only takes about 15 minutes, so your treatment time is minimal compared to most other methods, which can take up to an hour. The shorter treatment time means less heat is transferred to your skin, which means a faster recovery.
What Results Will I See With CoolPeel®?
While you will see results after a single CoolPeel® session, most people will benefit from two or three treatments to achieve maximum benefits. You may notice improvements within a week or two as your skin begins to look smoother and more even. The resurfacing process continues for Several more weeks as new skin cells replace the dull, damaged ones. Increased collagen production can take a few months or more to fully develop.
Is There Any Downtime After CoolPeel® Laser Resurfacing?
Most CO2 lasers would leave your skin very red and require at least several days of downtime, especially from social activities. CoolPeel®, however, allows you to return to your usual activities quickly. You will notice some redness, but much less than a laser that uses more heat. Dryness and flakiness are also common, but these effects typically fade within a few days.
We recommend using a gentle, non-irritating cleanser and unscented hydrating moisturizer on your skin for a few days after treatment. You can then return to your usual skincare regimen with skin that already feels softer and smoother.
