Radiesse or Juvederm? The Answer May Surprise You
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler that’s used to instantly create volume in the treatment site, thus minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Radiesse, however, is too thick to place around the lips, which is why this filler isn’t recommended for lip wrinkles.
Radiesse is a gel filler made from calcium hydroxyapatite, which makes this an ideal treatment for deeper lines and wrinkles. It is too dense because of its calcium component to replenish lost volume around the lips because of the delicate nature of lip tissue; using Radiesse in this area creates a higher risk of uneven lumps and bumps. That is why Juvederm, being a less dense material, is much safer to use for the lip area. Both are safe for the thicker skin on our face around the cheek area but for delicate work, Juvederm is the much safer alternative.
