Average Length of a Facelift Recovery

At Awaken Aesthetics (located in Torrance, CA), our facelift patients can expect to take about one to two weeks off from work. This is when patients experience the majority of facial swelling and bruising, so you can expect the same from your own facelift recovery

Patients are also required to wear facial coverings for this period of time, as it helps reduce post-surgical swelling.

Usually, by week three, patients can gently cover up any residual bruising with makeup and start to return back to their normal lifestyle.

Facelift vs. Mini Facelift: What’s the Difference?

If you have sagging skin around your neck, jawline, or underneath your eyes (or all three!), you may be a good candidate for facelift surgery. This cosmetic treatment aims to reposition drooping facial muscles to a more youthful placement, as well as remove excess skin that may have resulted due to skin laxity loss.

But did you know there’s more than one facelift option out there?

Let’s take a look at the main differences between a facelift and a mini facelift. View More Patient Results

The 4 Main Differences Between a Facelift and a Mini Facelift

1. The targeted treatment areas vary.

A full facelift is designed to treat skin sagging issues that extend from below the eyes to the neckline. A mini facelift targets a smaller treatment area, in that it addresses sagging muscles around the neck and jawline.

Keep in mind that neither a facelift nor a mini facelift can address drooping skin and muscles around the forehead region.

2. The duration of results may be different.

What to Expect When Recovering from a Facelift

Admit it: You’re interested in a facelift procedure.

Maybe you’re tired of spending lots of money on skin-tightening creams and serums that don’t deliver results. Or maybe you’ve tried out dermal fillers, but they don’t quite address the sagging skin you’ve started noticing in the bathroom mirror.

Whatever the case may be, you’ve looked into undergoing facelift surgery, but there’s one thing stopping you: the facelift recovery.

What to Expect From Facelift Recovery

During the first few days of facelift recovery, you’ll notice considerable bruising, swelling, and pain. We highly recommend that patients take this time off from work, as these side effects – combined with general anesthesia after-effects – make it so that patients need to get as much rest as possible.

After the first week, you’ll start to feel yourself again. At this time, some patients are able to return back to work. Additionally, patients are usually able to wear makeup around Day 10, which can be extremely useful for covering any residual signs of bruising.

Patients are […]

What to Expect from Facelift Scarring

The answer is yes, you should expect scarring from your facelift procedure – but they’re not as visible as you might think.

In fact, most facelift scarring is placed behind the ears and within the scalp’s hairline, thus ensuring that patients won’t have to worry about their scars being visible to the naked eye.

The reason why these incisions are placed behind the ears and within the hairline is because they allow your plastic surgeon to access key facial muscles that cause obvious drooping. During the facelift procedure, your plastic surgeon will adjust these facial muscles by repositioning them into a more youthful position, followed by trimming off any excess skin that may remain.

Returning to Work After a Facelift

While every patient is different, most individuals can expect to return to work about one week after their facelift procedure. The exception to this rule is if you work in a more manual job, as your physical activity will be limited in the first few weeks of recovery. For this reason, some patients may not be able to return to work for two weeks.

Your board certified plastic surgeon will give you the green light for when it’s time to go back to work.

How Much Does a Mini-Facelift Cost?

Want to look years younger without going through the constant upkeep that comes with anti-aging injectables?

For many people, a mini-facelift is the best way to take care of common aging symptoms – like wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity – with results that last for several years. A mini-facelift is an excellent choice for patients who may see signs of aging primarily on the lower third part of the face, like the jawline and neck. These signs of aging may include:

  • The appearance of jowls
  • Wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth
  • Loose skin around the neck
  • Neck wrinkles

The mini-facelift can help tighten loose skin, thus minimizing the look of wrinkles, fine lines, and even sagging. Best of all, the mini-facelift can be combined with other youth-enhancing treatments, like facial fat grafting or dermal fillers for facial volume. Results can last for up to five years or more, making it a great long-term solution for patients with busy schedules.

While many people are interested in the benefits of a mini-facelift, they […]

Where Is the Incision Made During a Facelift?

Are you thinking about undergoing a facelift?

Maybe you’ve tried anti-aging injections, but think you might need something a bit more drastic to minimize your wrinkles. Perhaps you have sagging skin around your cheeks and jawline, and it can only be addressed with a facelift procedure.

Regardless of why you want to undergo a facelift, you might have a question that plenty of other patients have had during their initial consultation: “Where is the incision made during a facelift?” View More Cases

There’s a good reason for this question. Many prospective patients are worried that the incision will leave a noticeable scar. After all, you want people to notice your smooth, firm, and younger-looking facial skin – not a telltale surgical scar!

We have good news here: Facelift incisions are typically made behind the ear and/or just along the hairline, meaning it’s incredibly easy to hide the surgical scars. In fact, the scars are so tough to notice that you’d have to purposefully look for the scar; it’s not noticeable in most social interactions.

The reason for this incision placement is simple: It provides the most access to sagging facial muscles and skin while […]

What’s the Difference Between a Face Lift and a Neck Lift?

For people with moderate to severe signs of aging, facial creams and serums just aren’t enough to counteract loose skin, wrinkles, and volume loss. That’s why surgical treatments – like a neck lift and a face lift – are more effective for significant aging symptoms. These procedures tackle signs of aging at a deep structural level, leading to highly visible results that can last for longer than 10 years.

But what exactly is the difference between a face lift and a neck lift? And how do you know which one is right for you?

All About the Face Lift

The facelift is a surgical procedure that’s ideal for patients who have significant facial sagging. During the facelift procedure, your plastic surgeon will make incisions behind the ears and around the hairline to access facial muscles. These muscles are pulled taut, and excess skin is trimmed away to help highlight these new contours.

You’re likely a good candidate for a face lift if you have significant facial sagging, as well as deep lines and wrinkles. To see how you’d appear after a facelift, place your […]
