If you’ve been struggling to treat the appearance of jowls, facial wrinkles, and sagging skin with over-the-counter beauty products, you’re in luck: there are more cosmetic treatments than ever dedicated to giving a youthful appearance back to your face.  At Awaken Aesthetics in Torrance, CA, we’re proud to offer two innovative treatments designed to tackle facial aging:

Both treatments can lead to excellent results, with highly satisfied patients who can’t wait to show off their invigorated new appearance.  However, these treatments are designed to tackle different components of facial aging.  So when it comes down to it, which is better: a Vampire Facelift, or a traditional Facelift?

A Vampire Facelift is an innovative non-surgical procedure that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to revitalize tired, aging skin.  During the first part of this procedure, a few teaspoons of blood are drawn from the upper arm and placed in a centrifuge for platelet removal.  The second part involves using a micro-needling device to inject the platelets into the facial region.  Growth factors in the platelets increase cellular turnover, which helps address:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Age spots
  • Acne scars

After a Vampire Facelift Patients experience improvement in pigmentation, volume, complexity and rejuvenated look of facial skin, but traditional facelift is the time tested method to provide a good long term and dramatic improvement that should last about 5 to 10 years.

A traditional facelift is a surgical procedure where a plastic surgeon makes incisions behind the ears or around the hairline to access key facial muscles.  Depending on where you need the most lift (around the jawline, the cheeks, or the forehead), your plastic surgeon will tighten those muscles and trim off any excess skin.

Ultimately, the right procedure for you will depend upon the degree of aging you’d like to treat.  Patients with mild to moderate signs of aging – particularly with regards to age spots and hyperpigmentation – will see the most success with the Vampire Facelift.  Patients who have significant skin sagging and wrinkles – but are otherwise happy with their skin’s appearance – will benefit the most from a traditional Facelift.

Both the Vampire Facelift and traditional Facelift can be found at Awaken Aesthetics in Torrance, CA.  Schedule your consultation with Board Certified Oculoplastic Surgeon Dr. Liu and Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Lao, to learn if you’re a good candidate for this surgical procedure.
