esion removal is a procedure that’s used to remove warts, moles, skin tags, and other abnormal growths for cosmetic or medical reasons. Ideal candidates for lesion removal should healthy non-smoking individuals who either want an abnormal growth removed for cosmetic reasons, or want to determine if an abnormal growth is cancerous.

The Procedure

You may be a good candidate for lesion removal if you have an unwanted growth on your skin that you’d like removed. The type of lesion removal procedure you’ll undergo depends on your goals. For example, removing a skin tag for cosmetic reasons may be as simple as numbing the area and using a surgical scalpel to cut off the growth. If you have a precancerous mole, more intricate surgery will be performed to remove all cancerous tissues. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area, which prevents the patient from feeling any pain or discomfort. Most lesion removal procedures take less than 30 minutes to perform.

Surgery is not the only treatment that may be helpful. Freezing, laser, chemical peeling, and other non-surgical therapies are available depending on the type of lesion present. At your consultation, we will do our best to recommend what will get the best outcome for you.
