Lift, tighten, and define your features without surgery.

What is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift provides a non-surgical option for lifting and enhancing your features. This procedure uses tiny threads made of body-safe material that are placed beneath the skin. They provide a smoother, refreshed appearance and more definition in your jowls, mid-face, cheeks, and brows. A thread lift also improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Thread lifts are a minimally invasive option for those not interested in surgery.

How Does a Thread Lift Work?

Threads for a thread lift can be made of several different materials, all widely tested for safety and effectiveness. Your provider places these threads in areas of the face that can benefit from lift and smoothness. Threads can work in two different ways, depending on your goals:

Smooth Threads
Thread lifts performed with smooth threads are intended to provide firmer, smoother skin by triggering collagen production. Your skin responds to the threads as a scaffold for improving its collagen structure. This firms and smooths your skin, improving the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity.

Threads With Cones or Barbs
These threads are used to create more lift than smooth ones. The cones allow the threads to tighten the skin from beneath. They provide a more dramatic lift and also trigger new collagen development. Both types have advantages that your provider will review with you.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Thread Lift?

Good candidates for a thread lift want to achieve a more youthful, lifted appearance. Ideal candidates have mild to moderate skin laxity, especially in the mid and lower face and jowls. Candidates should be in good health and have reasonable expectations. A thread lift cannot provide the same results as a facelift and may not be the best choice for significant skin sagging.

What to Expect During a Thread Lift

Your provider will numb your skin before your thread lift to keep you comfortable. Most people feel almost nothing while the threads are placed. A thread lift usually takes less than an hour. The number of threads used depends on your goals and the desired amount of lift. You will not need any sedation and can drive yourself home.

What Results Will I See With a Thread Lift?

You will notice results immediately after your procedure. However, you may also have minor swelling. Your results will develop over the next few weeks as your skin makes new collagen. You will notice that your skin looks smoother and more lifted, while areas like the jowls look tighter and wrinkles are less visible. Thread lift results can last a year or more, depending on your body’s response.

Is There Any Downtime With a Thread Lift?

Most people can return to work within a day of their thread lift. You should avoid touching, rubbing, or using products on your face for the first 24 hours. Any minor swelling or bruising will fade within a few days. The area may feel slightly sensitive for up to five days. You can resume most activities within a week and strenuous exercise within two weeks.
