How Does Liposuction Surgery Work?
During the procedure, Dr. Eric S. Ahn, specializing in plastic and cosmetic surgery will perform SmartLipo™, which uses laser heat energy to melt away fat.
First, your doctor will give you local anesthesia, which numbs the treatment areas. During your SmartLipo™ session, Dr. Eric S. Ahn will insert a small, thin tube called a microcannula into your skin. The cannula with a laser fiber inside will gently heat the targeted fat cells and melt them away. Additionally, the procedure will tighten your skin. Finally, they will stitch your incisions and apply gauzes and compression garments to the treated areas. After the procedure, our surgical team will monitor you until you are discharged home.
The procedure is less invasive than traditional liposuction surgeries and often results in less bruising, swelling, and downtime.
Am I a Candidate for SmartLipo™?
Candidates for liposuction should have good physical and mental health and have realistic expectations about the results of the procedure. The best candidates for liposuction are also within 30% of their desired body weight and have good muscle tone and skin laxity. Most patients suitable for standard liposuction techniques may also be great candidates for SmartLipo™.
