Are sagging eyelids making people ask if you got enough sleep last night? Drooping eyelid skin can make you look older and take energy away from your face. An eyelid lift restores your youthful, bright-eyed appearance, so you look and feel rejuvenated. Recovery takes a few weeks but results last a lifetime.
What is an Eyelid Lift?
The upper and lower eyelids start to sag as we age. At the same time, fat pads under the skin can begin to shift, creating undereye bags. Loose upper eyelid skin makes the eyes look hooded and tired, while the skin of the lower eyelids becomes thinner and stretches. An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty gives you a more youthful and refreshed eye area. Drs. Ahn specialize in facial plastic surgery, especially in the eye area, and can restore your eyelids to a more alert and awake appearance.
How Does an Eyelid Lift Work?
Your surgeon performs an upper eyelid lift by making a small incision hidden in the crease of the eyelid. The skin is lifted, and excess skin is removed, along with any excess fat. During a lower eyelid lift, your surgeon will use a scarless incision inside the lower eyelid to reposition or remove the fat pads. A lower eyelid lift usually does not require skin excision, and the skin will often tighten by itself. If not, options like laser treatment or a chemical peel can improve the skin’s tightness with no scarring.
What is Recovery Like after an Eyelid Lift?
Most people have a smooth recovery from eyelid lift surgery. We recommend that you rest and give yourself time to recover for 24 to 48 hours. If your job does not involve much physical activity, you may return within two or three days. You should avoid bending over or lifting anything heavy for at least a week. Swelling or bruising should fade within two weeks.

How Much Does an Eyelid Lift Cost?
The cost of any plastic surgery procedure will vary depending on your area and your surgeon. Nationwide the average price of a blepharoplasty is about $3100. This average does not include surgical fees, anesthesia, medications, or other expenses involved in a surgical procedure.
Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?
Good candidates for an eyelid lift have concerns about drooping eyelid skin, undereye bags, or hooded eyes. Ideal candidates may be in their thirties or older, in overall good health, and not smoke or be prepared to quit. Let your surgeon know if you have health issues that affect your eyes.
