Are you bothered by skin laxity or looking to enhance your features but not interested in surgery? A thread lift is a minimally invasive option to lift and firm your skin. This procedure improves facial definition for skin that looks more youthful and healthy. Its minimal downtime makes it suitable for those too busy for recovery time.

What is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift uses biologically safe threads (PDO threads) injected under your skin, where they trigger collagen production and lift your skin. You may also hear it referred to as face threading or a thread facelift. A thread lift is an excellent option for those who want to address minor sagging without surgery. This procedure can lift, tighten, and define your features, providing the more youthful results you want to see without a facelift’s risk and recovery time.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Thread Lift?

Good candidates for a facelift have reasonable expectations and are in good health. Candidates should have mild to moderate skin laxity, especially in the mid and lower face areas. A thread lift can also improve skin laxity and loss of definition along the jawline. People with more significant sagging or loose skin may be better candidates for a different procedure, such as a facelift. You should not have a thread lift procedure if you have an active skin condition or infection in the treatment area.

How Does a Thread Lift Work?

During a thread lift, your Awaken Aesthetics provider uses a thin needle to place the threads under your skin. These threads come in two types. Smooth threads focus on triggering collagen production. As a result, they excel at firming and smoothing your skin. Threads with cones or barbs provide more lift than smooth threads. They provide enhancement and definition to features such as your cheeks and jawline. Your body will naturally absorb these threads over time.

Is There Any Downtime After a Thread Lift?

A thread lift takes about an hour. Most people go back to work within a day or two. Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying products to your face for the first day. You may have minor swelling that lasts a few days. Minor soreness in the area can last about five days. You can resume most of your normal routine in one week, although strenuous exercise should wait about two weeks.

How Long Do Thread Lift Results Last?

The results of a thread lift can be noticeable immediately. They will continue to improve as swelling resolves and your skin starts producing new collagen. Full results take several weeks to develop. Your thread lift results can last a year or more. Each person’s body will respond differently so the results will vary. You can have new threads placed to maintain your results over time.

I decided on my surgery with Dr. Liu after being in the waiting room with other patients; all I heard and saw were great results from him. It didn’t anymore than that to convince me to have my surgery with him and I am very happy I made that decision.
