Do you struggle with looking tired even after a full night of rest? Are you having trouble putting makeup on in the morning because it cakes or creases over the eyelid?

Then you may be a perfect candidate for an eyebrow and/or an eyelid lift. These procedures correct sagging skin to give a more youthful and well-refreshed appearance.

But, which procedure is right for you–eyebrow or eyelid lift?

Brow Lift vs. Eyelid Lift

These two procedures work around the eyes, but they have different methods and focuses.

Brow Lift

An eyebrow lift readjusts the eyebrow back to its natural position and adjusts the skin to smooth out the forehead lines. If you have difficulty applying eyeshadow due to your eyelid skin disappearing, a brow lift may be best for you.

The eyebrow should sit above the bone for women and right on the bone for men. With age, however, the eyebrow droops down. During the day, the eyebrow will lift itself, causing wrinkles and crinkles on the forehead. An eyebrow lift corrects the problem and gives your eyebrows a much-needed rest.

Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)

If you look tired from drooping eyelids or bags under your eyes, an eyelid lift may be best for you. The eyelid lift will take away the loose skin on the eyelid.

A common misconception is it deals with the thick skin above the eyelid. The only part adjusted is the thin skin on the eyelid. A small incision is made on your natural creases to remove the fat and excess skin to give your well-rested eyes the appearance they deserve.

Brow and Eyelid Lift Recovery

A rest period and follow-up appointments are necessary for both eyebrow and eyelid lift recovery. In about a week, the sutures or stitches are removed. After that, there may be a couple of appointments to check the patient’s progress.

During this time, be sure to relax and not do anything strenuous. Bruising and swelling are a natural part of the healing process and will disappear as time passes. Local anesthesia is typically used and allows for a much quicker recovery.

Be sure to talk to Dr. Eric S. Ahn with any questions or concerns you may have as you move forward to a brighter you.

Dr. Ahn was pretty awesome. He was really nice and super patient with all my silly questions and comments during the procedure. Highly recommend!!!
